Recov

Rowing first · juniors and seniors

Built to be the simplest way to track recovery.

Recov holds a squad's training, fuelling and recovery together, and gives each person only the part of it they need. The athlete's journal is private from everyone. A coach sees training, not meal photos. Nothing about safeguarding costs a club money.

What it holds

Training

Coaches plan sessions, events, blocks and training patterns. Athletes log the result and how hard it felt. Every time is set against GMT — the gold-standard time for that boat class and distance — so progress is measured against a fixed line, not against the squad.

Fuelling

The athlete photographs a meal. Recov answers whether it was enough, with carbohydrate, protein and fat estimates. The coach and the parent get that verdict and those grams. Neither of them ever sees the photograph, or what the athlete typed about the food.

Recovery and wellbeing

Resting heart rate, sleep and soreness by body area, typed in by the athlete — or, with wearable sync switched on, some morning numbers read from the phone's own health app. Beside them sits a journal only the athlete can read.

Injury

An injury report records body area, side and when it started; the description is encrypted. An athlete can always report an injury, and a club cannot switch that off.

What Recov tracks

Every signal below is typed in by the athlete or read off a result. The one exception is optional: with wearable sync switched on, the Recov phone app can read resting heart rate, sleep and VO2 max (and HRV on Android) from the phone's own health app.

Morning

Resting heart rate, sleep hours and sleep quality out of ten, every day. HRV sits alongside them. VO2 max is logged every couple of weeks, not daily.

Evening

Soreness by body area, and how hard the session felt. The private journal sits beside them — one reader, always.

Training load

Every result is set against GMT, the gold-standard time for that boat class and distance. Across the week, training load is read through an acute:chronic lens.

Fuelling

A meal photo becomes a verdict — enough or not — with carbohydrate, protein and fat estimates. The photo itself is never shown to anyone else.

Injury

Body area, side and when it started. Reporting an injury can never be switched off.

Need-to-know is the product, not a setting

One set of rules decides every combination of role and data category. It is applied to every request and covered by tests, and underneath it, who someone is and what they recorded are held apart.

So visibility is a property of the system rather than a promise about how people will behave with it. One athlete can never read another's data. A coach's access still has to prove the concrete relationship: this coach coaches this squad. A guardian's has to prove the link to this child.

0 trackers

No analytics, no telemetry, no advertising identifiers, no push notifications from our servers. The app shows two daily reminders (morning check-in and evening logging), scheduled on the phone. They are on unless switched off, and nothing about them is sent to us. The app stores no IP addresses and no location data.

Who it is for

Clubs and squads, juniors and seniors. Rowing first: a result is measured against the gold-standard time for its boat class and distance. The access rules do not change with the age of the squad, and guardian access simply ends on an athlete's eighteenth birthday.

What Recov does not do

Recov holds health and wellbeing data about children. Overstating it is the expensive mistake, so here is the short list of things people assume and that are not true.

Frequently asked

What is Recov?

Recov is software for rowing clubs that holds a squad's training, fuelling and recovery in one place, and shows each person only the part they need. See what it holds.

Who is Recov for?

Clubs and squads, juniors and seniors. Rowing first: a result is measured against the gold-standard time for its boat class and distance. See for clubs and for families.

What does Recov track?

Resting heart rate, sleep hours, sleep quality and HRV each morning, soreness and effort each evening, training load read through an acute:chronic lens, and a fuelling verdict from a meal photo. See what Recov tracks.

Is Recov suitable for junior athletes?

Yes. Recov is rowing-club software built around junior and senior squads alike. Consent for anyone under 18 can only be granted by a linked guardian, and guardian access ends on the athlete's eighteenth birthday. See for families.

What does a coach see?

For the squads they actually coach: training results and progress against GMT, effort ratings, the soreness log, recovery markers, injury reports, and the fuelling verdict with its macro figures. Never a meal photograph, the journal, or another squad's data. See what each role can see.

What about consent for athletes under 18?

Only a linked guardian can grant consent for a minor, every switch starts off, and either the guardian or the athlete can withdraw at any time. See consent, and what it actually controls.

What does Recov cost?

Only an athlete uses a paid seat — coaches, guardians and welfare officers are free. The price itself is still being finalised. See pricing.

How do I start using Recov?

Clubs are onboarded directly rather than through a self-serve signup — write to us and we'll take it from there. See getting started or contact us.

Where the detail lives

Everything we hold, everyone it is sent to, how long it stays and what you can ask us to do with it is written down — including the parts where the system does less than it should.
