Getting started · For club admins
AdminYour first 15 minutes as an admin.
Get a squad up, a coach attached to it, and the first invites out — in the order that actually works. Every step below is something the app does today.
Seven steps
-
Sign in
Go to app.recov.club and sign in with your password, or tap "Use a magic link instead" and we'll email you a one-time link — no password to remember. You'll land on your squads.
-
Know your view: squads, not athletes
Squads, membership, roles, invites and seats are the whole of an admin's remit. An athlete's training, injuries and wellbeing stay with their coach — an admin's own account can't open them, by design. The full matrix.
-
Create your first squad
Give it a name and, if you like, a specialty — it defaults to rowing. Then pick a feature profile:
starter, developmentorperformance, deciding how much the squad collects about its athletes. New squads start onstarter, the least-collecting option — the squad's coach widens it later, deliberately, once they're attached. -
Invite a coach to run it
A squad with no coach can't do much, so invite one next. As an admin you can also invite club-wide roles onto the same screen — a Welfare Officer, a deputy, a Boatman, a Club Rowing Safety Adviser, or another admin. Nobody is added yet: an invite becomes an account only once the person follows the link and finishes their own sign-up.
-
Coaches invite their athletes
From here, invites to athletes are your coach's job, squad by squad. For an athlete under 18, the inviter ticks "junior athlete" and adds a parent or guardian's email — your club supplies that address; the young athlete is never asked to type one in themselves.
-
Guardian approval, then consent
An under-18 athlete's account doesn't exist until a parent or guardian approves it by email. Once it does, that guardian — never the club — sees five separate permissions on their own guardian home: Training and wellbeing data Wearable sync Meal photos Height and weight Recovery and wellbeing logging. Every one starts off. A guardian can turn on the first, second and fourth on any feature profile, and meal photos only when one of the athlete's squads is on
developmentorperformance; recovery and wellbeing logging is shown but cannot be turned on yet. Any permission that is on can be turned off. (Wearable sync lets the Recov phone app read a few morning numbers from the phone's own health app. Nothing is read unless the permission is on, the athlete also switches sync on for that phone, and the phone itself allows it.) -
Know your seats
The plan includes eight athlete seats. Coaches, guardians, welfare officers and admins are all free, at any number. Try to invite a ninth athlete and Recov says so plainly and refuses the invite — get in touch to add more.
You're set up when
- You've signed in and can see the squads screen
- At least one squad exists, with a feature profile chosen
- That squad has a coach attached to it
- Your coach has sent their first athlete invites
- Any guardian who needs to approve an under-18 account has had their invite
Under 18? What changes
An athlete under 18 can't be added without a parent or guardian's approval, and only that guardian — or the athlete themselves, once they're old enough to ask — can change their consent. As an admin you will never see that athlete's training or wellbeing detail; that's deliberately a coach's job, not yours. More on what a guardian sees.
What happens next
Your coach takes it from here — planning sessions, reviewing training, inviting their own athletes. Guardians manage consent for their own children from their own account. Your job stays squads, membership and seats: nothing about an athlete's day-to-day needs you to open the app again unless someone new joins. More on what a club gets.
